Etymology

From Proto-Anatolian *bnΜ₯Η΅ΓΊs, from Proto-Indo-European *bΚ°nΜ₯Η΅Κ°-ΓΊ-s.

Compare Sanskrit ΰ€¬ΰ€Ήΰ₯ (bahu). A relation has been suggested from Proto-Indo-European *ponkΚ·to- (β€œall, whole”), from *penkΚ·- (β€œto take in hand, to handle”), thus Latin cΕ«nctus would be cognate.[1]
