Singularised plural of *lulë, from Proto-Albanian *lulā. An ancient Balkan loanword from an oriental source.
From the substrate source responsible for Persian لاله, Latin līlia, Ancient Greek λείριον (leírion), ultimately from Egyptian ḥrrt (“flower”).[1]
