From Proto-Austronesian *buhət. Sense 1 is from a Cordilleran language. Compare Ilocano bukat (“rat”), Limos Kalinga buwot (“rat”), Batad Ifugao bu'at (“rat”), and Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value) / puot (“cloud rat”).
