ܨܵܠܹܐ • (ṣālē) (present participle ܨܠܵܝܵܐ‎ (ṣlāyā), past participle ܨܸܠܝܵܐ‎ (ṣilyā))

1. to descend, go down

   ‏ܠܵܐ ܟܹܐ ܡܵܨܹܝܬ ܨܵܠܹܝܬ ܬܲܡܵܐ ܗܵܫܵܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܥܸܠܲܬ݂ ܒܢܵܝܬܵܐ.‎‎

   lā kē māṣēt ṣālēt tammā hāšā min ˁillaṯ bnāytā.

   You can’t go down there currently because of the construction.

   ‏ܨܠܹܐ ܠܲܢ ܒܸܛܪܵܝܵܐ ܠܐܘܿܪܡܝܼܵܐ ܩܵܐ ܫܘܼܠܵܡ ܫܵܒ݂ܘܿܥܵܐ.‎‎

   ṣlē lan biṭrāyā l-ōrmīyā qā šūlām šāḇōˁā.

   We drove down to Urmia for the weekend.

3. to come down, drop, precipitate as rain, snow etc.

   ‏ܡܸܛܪܵܐ ܒܸܨܠܵܝܵܐ ܝܠܵܗ̇‎ ― miṭrā biṣlāyā ìlāh ― It is raining (literally, “Rain is descending”)

   ‏ܬܲܠܓܵܐ ܒܸܨܠܵܝܵܐ ܝܠܹܗ‎ ― talgā biṣlāyā ìlēh ― It is snowing (literally, “Snow is descending”)

4. to get out, get off, alight, disembark of a vehicle

   ‏ܨܠܹܐ ܠܲܢ ܡ̣ܢ ܛܲܝܵܣܬܵܐ.‎‎ ― ṣlē lan min ṭayyāstā. ― We disembarked the plane.

   ‏ܨܠܝܼ ܡ̣ܢ ܩܛܵܪܵܐ ܥܲܠ ܪܨܝܼܦܵܐ.‎‎ ― ṣlī min qṭārā ˁal rṣīpā. ― Get off the train onto the platform.

     For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit is praying, but my understanding is unfruitful.
