Univerbation of ܕ‎ (d-) +‎ ܐܲܝܟ݂‎ (ayḵ, “as”), from Aramaic אַיךּ‎ (ayk). In Old Aramaic, אַיךּ‎ (ayk) was used in the adverbial sense of “how”. Compare also Hebrew אֵיךְ‎ (éykh, “how”).
