Etymology
From Proto-Slavic *molka. Cognate with Serbo-Croatian мла̏ка (“puddle”) and akin to Old East Slavic молокита (molokita, “marsh”).
According to some scholars, from the same root as Proto-Slavic *melko (“milk”) whence Bulgarian мля́ко (mljáko).
