A Particle beam weapon uses a high-energy beam of atomic or subatomic particle to cause damage or destroy a target by disrupting its atomic and/or molecular structure. Current particle beam weapons like the United States’ anti-ballistic missile defense system but the potentials have not been fully realized in this form of weapon. Particle beam weapons are considered a Directed Energy Weapon along with sonic weapons and laser weapons.
