Romanization

Hangul

Koreans may believe that Hangul is ideal. But it is quite defective in fact. Above all, long and short vowels are unsaid.

  • Maybe not best
    • No difference from long and short vowels.

Arae-a

ː Arae-a (아래아)

The Revised Romanization of Korean (RR) does little justice to old Korean language.

The Roman /v/ shall romanize the uniquely outlawed vowel /ㆍ/, namely 아래아 (arae-a). Accordingly, the hangul for hvi ("sun"), for example, may be put (in italic), (in bold face), (underlined), (stroked), or even (stroked). The basical should be self-evident.
